When using our platform, it can be helpful to consider the following items to ensure that learning environments are properly equipped.
Bandwidth and connectivity
- For live streaming, adequate bandwidth is necessary to ensure a smooth connection. Most of our videos require less bandwidth than live-action content, but we still suggest ~1.5 Mbps bandwidth per device playing a standard-definition video.
- If students are focused mainly on exercises, the bandwidth required is closer to 150 kbps per user.
- When considering network setup for portable devices, ensure every device has a strong wireless connection. When many devices are used simultaneously, the wireless network often becomes weaker (or saturated). To ensure a good connection, it's safest to place a wireless access point or router in each room that will be using VMA.
- Most Virtual Medical Academy Livestreams are hosted by YouTube so it's necessary to unblock YouTube for our platform to work properly.
